Religions Texas Research Assistant
The Institute for Diversity and Civic Life is seeking a Research Assistant for our Religions Texas oral history project, an initiative to explore encounters with religious difference and document religious diversity in Texas. The position involves executing administrative tasks related to developing and maintaining a digital oral history archive, processing (transcribing, entering metadata, gathering relevant documentation) oral history interviews and depositing them in the digital archive. The Research Assistant will work with IDCL’s Executive Director on this project.
Qualified applicants are responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented and have some knowledge of or interest in oral history, digital humanities, and digital archives. Knowledge of or experience with Omeka, Otter.ai, and Audacity is helpful. Otherwise, applicants should be comfortable with learning new software and technology.
This is a part-time, hourly, remote position that requires approximately 10 – 15 hours per week, mostly self-paced with weekly Zoom check-ins. This is a short-term position, starting with a three-month contract with potential to add additional months.
